armed cadres attack UPDF office at Kudukchari, Rangamati
One
person was killed and three others were injured when armed
miscreants of the Jana Samhati Samiti carried out an attack
on the UPDF office at Kudukchari in Rangamati district.
The
incident occurred yesterday, 20 March, Sunday, at 7:05 P.M.
when the armed hoodlums of the JSS came to Kudukchari bazzar
mounting on cars and jeeps and rained down bullets on a
crowed of UPDF men near the office, injuring Biro Chakma,
ex-chairman of Shubholing Union Parishad, and Rabi Chandra
Chakma (32), a UPDF member. The firing lasted just a few
minutes. After that the JSS miscreants went to Shukarchari
village and shot Lallua Chakma and Kalabua Chakma. The miscreants
then fled away near the army camp.
During
the whole incident the army remained silent.
Critically
injured Biro Chakma succumbed to his injuries on way to
Chittagong Medical College Hospital last night. He is a
staunch supporter of the UPDF. He was forced to leave his
village for voicing criticism of the CHT accord and the
role of the JSS in the ongoing fratricidal conflict.
