PCP
team attacked by JSS cadres
A
jeep carrying members of the Pahari Chattra Parishad (Hill
Student's Council) and Hill Women's Federation came under
JSS attack today, May 18, at Narikul Bagan near Khagrachari
district town when they were announcing the upcoming 20
May founding anniversary programme of the PCP.
The
attack left a total of eight persons including the driver's
assistant wounded. They include PCP activists Suhel Chakma,
Russel Chakma, Santosh Chakma, Apu Chakma and Bhabatosh
Chakma, Hill Women's Federation activists Jhanat Chakma
and Jui Chakma and the drive's assistant Shukhi Ranjan
Tripura.
The
attackers pelted the jeep with brickbats resulting in
damage to the windscreens.
United
People's Democratic Front (UPDF) convenor Prasit Khisha
in a statement issued to the press today condemned the
attack and demanded that the JSS culprits be arrested
and punished.
Mr.
Khisha said the attack went a long way to prove that the
Santu Larma clique had been playing the role of "Rajakars"
(meaning collaborators) in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
