Youth Forum's council session ends:
Resolution changing its name to Democratic Youth Forum
The
second central council session of the Hill Youth Forum,
a front organisation of the United People's Democratic
Front, ended in Chittagong on May 13. Held at Studio Theatre,
the council session was presided over by Hill Youth Forum
president Apu Chakma.
More
than one hundred and twenty youth representatives from
across the Chittaogng Hill Tracts and from Dhaka and Chittagong
attended the session that began at 10 in the morning.
Forum's
General Secretary Dipankar Chakma presented organisational
report to the council, while UPDF central committee leader
Dhrubo Jyoti Chakma, Chittagong unit member Animesh Chakma,
president of Hill Women's Federation Sonali Chakma and
Hill Student's Council leader Bhabatosh Chakma spoke as
guest speakers.
Deputy
General Secretary of the Hill Youth Forum Rintu Chakma,
it's Chittagong city unit president Rinku Chakma, vice
president of it's Kawkhali unit Lakshmi Moni Chakma and
Dighinala representative Byron Chakma also took part in
the discussion on the presented report.
The
council session unanimously adopted a resolution changing
the organisation's name to Chittagong Hill Tracts Democratic
Youth Forum.
The
councilors also elected a 15-member new central committee
with Dipankar Chakma and Mithun Chakma as its president
and general secretary respectively.
